At the core of the LEGACY team is a group of friends who grew up sailing together at the Racine Yacht Club Junior program. Co-owner, Scott Monroe started sailing at a young age with his Dad, and raced Optis and Lasers at RYC before moving on to Stars and other big boat programs.

This young crew has extensive experience on the Lakes and credit their parents with playing a major role in fostering their love of sailing. Monroe said: “Most of our parents have aged out of the sport, but they enjoy watching us carry the torch and compete at a high level.  We love the challenge of working together to try and be competitive in the fleet.”

The LEGACY team started their GL52 experience with the 2022 Mac, which they sailed again in 2023 in addition to the Queens Cup, Harbor Springs and the Hook / Super Hook hosted by RYC. The GL52 fits the type of sailing this team likes; “the most challenging with the toughest competition.” Their goal is to score as many podium finishes as possible while being consistently competitive. Along the way they plan to continue “the LEGACY of amazing sailing adventures with great friends.”
